A Message from our CEO, Renee Hungerford – Community Action of Orleans & Genesee

Dear Community Members:

We recently ran news stories to raise awareness of the impact of the government shutdown, especially the loss of SNAP and HEAP benefits which help us to ensure families are not going hungry and are able to be sheltered from the cold. We have been awestruck with the amazing outpouring of donations and volunteering from our community and local businesses. It is a great reminder that the work our staff and volunteers do, is truly appreciated by the community and while we are always there to help others…others are willing to stand next to us to help when it is needed. The community response has been tremendous, and I feel very blessed to have witnessed this. My deepest gratitude goes out to everyone who has stood by us with support during this challenging time. I am proud to be a member of this incredible agency and community.

We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and have served low-income and disadvantaged families for nearly 60 years. Community Action programs are designed to empower as well as provide opportunity to those who are not yet self-sufficient.
